==Plot== After spotting Taylor, an enraged Lung leaps from the street to the side of the building that she is on, and scales the structure through the use of his claws. Taylor waits for him at the edge of the roof near the fire escape, knowing that she can't outrun him and that a retreat down the fire escape would be too slow. She looks in her inventory for something useful: her emergency Epipen is useless and a pouch of chalk dust is potentially more dangerous for her than him. She settles on the pepper spray, which her father had gifted to her as a means of her self-defense for her morning runs. The fire escape is Taylor's only hope of fleeing, but by the time Lung reaches the rooftop, he'll now where she went and run her down. Planning to slow him down, Taylor crouches by the rooftop's edge and awaits to use the pepper spray on him. Taylor sprays Lung (who is still on fire and heavily transformed) as soon as she sees his head peer over the edge, aiming for the eye she hadn't stung shut. Though the first shot misses, the second manages connect with its target even through the flames shielding him. Though affected by the spray, Lung manages to keep his grip on the rooftop and hauls himself over to reach the top. With nothing left to use against Lung, and making a mental note to get a baton or knife for personal defense, Taylor attempts to flee for the fire escape, but Lung strikes her in the back with a wave of flame, sending her sprawling to the rooftop's edge. Lung, who is still blinded by the pepper spray, blindly launches a broad wave of flame over half of the rood in an attempt to kill her, forcing her to keep still as hold her breath. This doesn't last long however, as Lung's healing allows him to recover from the pepper spray quickly. Taylor braces from what she assumes is Lung moving to incinerate her, only to realize she he had been firing streams of flame towards the roof of an adjacent building. Suddenly, Lung is attacked by a massive beast that appeared to be a cross between a lizard and a tiger, and with tangles of muscle and bone in place of skin, scales or hair. The scuffle then causes both Lung and the creature to fall off of the roof and onto the street below. Still shaken, Taylor stands up, and is then quickly met with a pair of creatures similar to the first one landing on the roof with her. Two young women and men rode the beasts and dismount from them, and Taylor is introduced to Grue, Tattletale, Bitch (who the authorities and media refer to as "Hellhound") and Regent. They reveal that when they heard that Lung planned to attack them that night, they decided to meet him halfway, However, they only ended up fighting Oni Lee and half dozen ABB gangsters, and without the aid of Lung's group, Oni Lee was forced to retreat. Taylor is silent throughout this exchange. Noticing this, Grue asks if Taylor is hurt but is interrupted by Tattletale saying the reason for her silence is her shyness. Lung struggles heavily in the ensuing fight against Bitch's creatures (which are revealed to be dogs), half blind and suffering from the insect venom. He eventually loses the fight and is incapacitated from the damage. Tattletale then informs everyone present that a cape is coming, Bitch summons her dogs and they the group mounts up. Grue offers Taylor a ride, but she declines, and when asked by Tattletale what her cape name is she admits that she hasn't picked one yet. Tattletale then advises that when a Protectorate hero comes across two villains fighting each other, they won't let either walk away. After the group departs, leaping over her head, Taylor is left to fully process the information about what had transpired and becomes completely mortified. She realizes that the "children," whom Taylor had gone through so much effort to desperately protect from Lung, were in fact a group of teenaged supervillains. Additionally, they had also mistaken her for a villain.
