==Summary== Incomplete Imp's delightful mother, Celia Laborn, and her latest boyfriend make their debut, and her reasons for leaving to live with her brother become apparent as the scene progresses, displaying an abysmal home situation. It is revealed that Celia and her 'friends' worked for the Merchants in their drug dealing enterprises before they were forcefully disbanded by the Nine, and that Celia is pregnant with another child who would be Imp's younger sister or brother. Imp merely watches on, unremembered, as her mother and the others debase themselves and bicker. Imp considers confiscating the drugs, and whether that would help her impulse control deficient mother, before deciding it would likely end poorly regardless. Nonetheless, she tries subtly hindering her mother's vices, to no joy. She searches her old closet and leaves. She heads to a recent crime scene, baring the hallmarks of the Nine, before deciding to search elsewhere for clues on their activity. She does, a breadcrumb trail of bloody smears leading away from the massacre, which she follows, finding an apartment complex where some of the Nine are gathered; Crawler, Burnscar, Shatterbird, and Bonesaw. Imp considers her odds of killing any one of the Nine in an ambush and getting away with it, not feeling too confident. She hesitates to take out Bonesaw thanks to her childlike demeanour, even given her kill count, before the sight of the girl's most recent victim still suffering gives her the conviction to strike. She fails to kill Bonwsaw, even after slitting her throat and stabbing her in the eye. Bonesaw's lifesaving augmentations to herself proving their worth. The Nine members react with alarm that someone would dare attack them and try to formulate a response, whilst Bonesaw talks about fixing herself up lickety-split. Imp decides to make her escape but runs into Cherish and Jack Slash, who have just finished killing the detectives investigating the apartment complex. Imp considers killing Jack, the ringleader, before deciding on Cherish as her target since she's new and may not have the protections the older members of the Nine do. When she approaches, Cherish manages to sense her with her power, although not percieve her any other way. She quickly signals to Imp that she shouldn't attack, as she wants to strike a bargain.
