Chrysalis 20.1 is the first chapter of the Chrysalis Arc. Taylor doesn't want to go to school, information on the state of Brockton Bay. Skitter deals with some thugs. ==Plot== Taylor contemplates her operations in Brockton Bay during her morning routine, tentatively trying to balance her supervillain life with her civilian life. During breakfast with Danny, she and her father discuss her future. Taylor shares her wishes to drop out out of high school and join the work force, and resume her education at a later time. Danny doesn't appear overtly upset at this, but isn't outright agreeable and notes that Taylor seems like a different person. Despite Taylor's attempts to reassure him otherwise, Danny expresses that he feels as though he has no actual say or importance in her life anymore, lamenting the overall state of their relationship, which could never be construed as a sincere and traditional relationship between a parent and child. He eventually agrees to let Taylor have her way. After leaving home, Taylor looks over coded messages sent to her from Charlotte and Forrest, requesting her aid. On the way to them, she retrieves her equipment and dwells on the present situations in the Bay. Such as the PRT (despite its severely weakened state) diverting out-of-town capes to permanent postings within the city in response to the portal, a pair of Fallen supervillains still lurking within Imp's territory, and The Teeth and Accord's Ambassadors looking to stake their claims on portions of the city. In regards to the Teeth and the Ambassadors, Skitter recalls the former being highly unlikely to be amenable to an alliance as opposed to the latter, recalling a time when the Teeth had attempted to seize territory from Parian. Taylor ultimately considers the Ambassadors to be the lesser of two evils, and has been working with Grue to arrange an agreement with Accord. Meeting with Charlotte and Forrest at her base, Skitter chastises Charlotte for enlisting the help of a civilian girl without having her vetted by Tattletale first. Logistics and supplies for the orphanage are discussed before the children are sent to school. Ignoring the small desire of wanting to return to school herself in order to reclaim some semblance of normalcy, Skitter ventures forth alongside Forrest into her territory (comprising the Boardwalk and the Docks). She takes note of the satisfactory amount of progress made in the reconstruction efforts before responding to the aftermath of a hate crime carried out by remnants of Fenrir's Chosen. As requested by one of the victims, Skitter gives the Chosen thugs a more lenient punishment, ordering them to turn themselves into the police and confess what they did in full, and forcing them into compliance with bullet ant stings. However, the victim, being a virtuous, Christian man, condemned this action and stated she didn't do what he asked of her. Refusing to argue, as it would make her look weak in a time where she couldn't afford to, she simply says to him that she did. Taylor later returns to her headquarters, with all major tasks for the day completed and being apprised by Tattletale of all the essential happenings in the city. She's gladdened to hear that Accord is to be absent in a meeting with Grue and Tattletale, noting that he would not take kindly at all to the latter's attitude. Things quickly sour when Charlotte contacts Taylor again, saying that an old classmate of theirs was asking about her during school, and Charlotte strongly believes that they knew Taylor's identity. ==Characters== {| class="CharTable" ! colspan=2|white !
