PAGENAME is the eighth chapter of Daybreak. After a brutal twenty-four hours Victoria gets to meet with an old friend. ==Summary== It’s morning, the power at the office is back on and Victoria starts to consider a new living arrangement. Checking in on her phone, she ignores messages from her mother but takes note of a series of messages from “Glitzglam”, her cousin Crystal. Crystal profusely apologized, explaining that she was shocked to learn about Carol’s plan for a “reunion”, and that she should have protested more. Victoria’s Uncle Mike was apparently even more enraged at Carol. Victoria eventually sends a reply of forgiveness to Crystal, but only after checking the news and deciding to let go of this particular chunk of anger. Browsing the news further, Victoria muses about meeting with Fume Hood and joining one of the many conflicting hero factions in the city. Gilpatrick arrives with coffee and a breakfast burger, and Victoria confirms that she is feeling better, to an extent. The two chat over the file of Ossuary, an environmentally-themed villain group formerly known as Elephant Graveyard. Gil offers his sympathy to Victoria while refraining from pushing her boundaries too far. As Victoria is about to depart, she receives a text from Crystal, who offers her apartment as a safe place to stay. Just after, Gilpatrick steps back in and introduces another one of his favors: Jessica Yamada, Victoria’s former therapist and emergency contact. Taking a walk around the school, Victoria catches Mrs. Yamada up on her situation. Her role during and after Gold Morning, carefully maneuvering around the topic of her sister. Two years ago, Amy had restored her body as it was when it was 17, but Victoria requested for Amy to keep her memories intact even with the tainted emotions removed. Victoria reminisces on her trigger event, which occurred when she was facing off against a bully in a high school basketball game, trying desperately to show that to her family that she was capable. Her time at the hospital was worsened by guilt: the constant recollection of her brutality as Glory Girl. Victoria brings up how she needs to be a level-headed person with her emotions under control, a “warrior monk”, as she puts it. Yet she can’t stay motionless as the rest of the world moves forward around her. She has to be a hero, just not Glory Girl. Jessica mentions her job as a psychologist for the Wardens, though she is not in a position to provide professional therapy to Victoria. Nevertheless, she would be happy to recommend a colleagues’ services or confide as a friend. Victoria replies that Amy is dangerous, and more in need of therapy than she is. ==Characters== {| class="CharTableWard" ! colspan=2 width=400|white ! colspan=1|white ! colspan=1|white |- | ;Patrol Block *Victoria Dallon *Gilpatrick ---- ;Norfair Neighborhood Heroes *Fume Hood M | ;New Wave *Laserdream <small>(Message)</small> *Brandish M *Lightstar M *Flashbang M ---- ;The Wardens *Weld M *Vista M | ;Independent Villains *Panacea M | ;Civilians *Lachlan Hund M *Jessica Yamada D ---- ;Others *Khepri M |- |} Reflist ==Site Navigation== Chapters Navibox Daybreak Navibox
