I'm of the opinion that Contessa's shard was Eden's from the beginning, due to several factors. First, her vision contains memories of Eden from before meeting Abaddon. Second, it was mentioned that the shard Eden was using to plot out the future was its own, not the third entity's. Citation:

Eden only started using Abaddon's shard immediately before landing, and the shard that ''was'' used is the one that detached. If Contessa's shard were Abaddon's, she shouldn't have memories of Eden optimizing the future. </p>
