I couldn’t think of two capes who were in a committed relationship where there wasn’t some degree of fucked-up-ness. Night and Fog were, if I’d understood Tattletale right, essentially functional sociopaths. They’d acted out the role of a married couple with none of the affection or fondness. | I couldn’t think of two capes who were in a committed relationship where there wasn’t some degree of fucked-up-ness. “I saw your info. Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt. First located in Hesse, Germany, moved to London, then Brockton Bay, Boston, then Brockton Bay again. No kids. Cat. Nothing interesting about you, besides the obvious. I’m thinking you even have your dinners on rotation. Chicken and rice on Mondays, Steak and potatoes on Tuesdays? Something like that?” | “I saw your info. Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt. First located in Hesse, Germany, moved to London, then Brockton Bay, Boston, then Brockton Bay again. No kids. Cat. Dorothy Schmidt, usually known as Night, was a member of Empire Eighty-Eight and the wife of Fog.
Personality
Has a liking for high heels, a parallel to the insectile limbs she walks on in her other form. <ref name="Cast2">[https://parahumans.wordpress.com/cast-spoiler-free/cast/
Cast (in depth)]</ref> Has an unerring morning routine with planned dialogue, that she and her husband so through without fail.
Relationships
List characters they liked, hated, or worked alongside.
Appearance
Out of costume, Dorothy dresses a little too well for the situation, wearing a dress, lots of makeup, and jewelry.<ref name="18.y">Interlude 18.y</ref>
As a cape she dresses entirely in black complete with a hood, high-heeled boots, and a heavy cloak.<ref name="Cast1">Cast (spoiler free)</ref>
Abilities and Powers
Classified as a Breaker 9, Dorothy can transform into a horrifying monster when unseen. This is summed up by Tattletale as an inversion of the Manton Effect, though she admits that it is not an accurate description. Whenever Night reverts back to her human form she is instantly "healed", effectively "resetting" any damage she takes and restorring her to a "pristine" condition<ref name="Cast1">Cast (spoiler free)</ref>.
Breaker form
Her monster form has enhanced speed, strength, and durability and is composed largely of sharp edges and to many insect like legs. As official sources describe it, Night can transform into a "powerful four-dimensional entity"<ref name="list"> Wildbow's Parahuman List</ref> when unobserved. But does not elaborate if it is psychological or some form of the Observer effect<ref name="Explanation">The What?</ref>.
Equipment
As her transformation only occurs when she is unseen, she uses an assortment of tools to blind her foes, including flashbangs, smoke canisters, and a large black removable cloak, embedded with mini-hooks on the outside, designed to cover and catch on her enemies, essentially a net.<ref name="15.1">Colony 15.2</ref>
