Maria Whitworth, known publicly as Horizon, is a member of The Protectorate and the tentative head of its Anchorage branch.

Personality

Horizon is professional and no-nonsense; eager and able for advancement.She possesses a strong sense of justice.<ref name="PRTF 3">PERSONALITY:
Horizon works well with teammates and imbues those she leads with a natural, easy discipline and order. Horizon has two red marks on her record, stemming from incidents where she chose to speak out against what she perceived as wrongs, despite orders to the contrary. Relationships

Husband

Horizon's husband is a non-cape who makes a living online as a musician/sound tech. <ref name="Wildbow PRT">Wildbow PRT Quest Archive</ref> While she does love her husband they agreed that they did not want children.

Cape Community

Horizon spent time under the mentorship of each of the Triumvirate before her transfer to Anchorage.<ref name="R1">in all seriousness, she spent time with the Triumvirate. - comment by WildBow on Reddit</ref>

Abilities and Powers

Horizon has three types of enhanced senses. She can use only one at a time.

• Zoomed sight with simultaneous viewing and processing of multiple scenes in F.O.V.
• Sight through inorganic material. Can be used to locate persons through walls.
• Organic sight that allows her to see the inner workings of an individual’s body in detail.

Horizon's primary offensive power is an explosive touch linked to perception. Her striker ability is somehow linked to the quality and quantity of her focus on a target. It has ranged from delivering blows at five or so times the usual strength to obliterating large vehicles. The variance in effectiveness sometimes drastically changes from one moment to the next.<ref name="PRT Quest">PRT Quest document 11</ref> Furthermore, the more open area behind her target, the more she can let loose.

As a complement to her advanced senses Horizon has learned to lipread with accuracy.<ref name="PRTQ37">PRT Quest p37</ref>

History

Background

Married a musician, reassigned to Anchorage from Detroit to pursue a chance to command her own team. <ref name="Wildbow PRT"/>

Post-Echidna

Following the Echidna incident, Horizon stayed with the Protectorate despite revelations about the organization's background.

PRT Quest

Horizon was moved into the Anchorage department and tapped to lead as the head.
