8.y (Interlude; William) is the fourteenth chapter and second interlude of Beacon. William runs laps in prison, heals a wounded inmate, gets shot by a guard, is broken out by Teacher and agrees to work for him, willingly.

Gambol trips and falls and William tries to help him. He gets shot for his trouble.
He is visited by Teacher and his students.
