Witten particles are quantum gravity particles that were presumably discovered on Earth Bet prior to Gold Morning. The name "Witten particle" is presumably a reference to quantum gravity theorist Edward Witten.

Vista's space-warping power could cause Witten particles to behave in unusual ways. Lookout's past-viewing camera was sensitive to interference by Witten particles.<ref>“That color scheme hurts my eyes to look at,” Swansong commented.

“It hurts my brain to think at,” Lookout said. “That’s a Witten particle flying around like a balloon with the end undone. Because life has to be hard, right? They don’t do that.”

“Witten?” I asked.
“Gravity particle.”

“Oh. In the past?”

“Yup.”

  • In the real world this is called a Graviton, and is still unobserved.
