Background

Cauldron was formed by Doctor Mother and Contessa after Eden was killed and they gained knowledge what Eden and Scion's plans were.

They permitted Gray Boy because he was the closest thing to a weapon they had against Scion since Eidolon. When the Slaughterhouse Nine started picking up and more parahumans started getting removed from the fiend than Gray Boy was theoretically worth, they moved in. Manuevering Glaistig Uaine into taking him over, so the power would still be in play<ref>Comment by Wildbow on Spacebattles</ref>.

History

Doctor Mother and Contessa founded Cauldron in 1982 following the appearance of Scion. Hero and Doormaker both triggered in their first batch of ten vials. They expanded their operations throughout the 1980s and established a headquarters that spanned several dimensions.

During the mid-1980s, Cauldron recruited Number Man and Doctor Manton as full-time staff. Alexandria stayed with them for two years following her trigger and helped implement their plan for creating the Protectorate and integrating parahumans into society.
