Personality

Paige is a lover of music. She showed no desire to harm others, only wishing to use her power to enhance her singing career. This didn't change after she got her powers, as her powers were bought from Cauldron and are thus free of the compulsion that draws natural triggers toward conflict.

Appearance

Paige is a young woman with bright yellow feathers growing among her hair. She dressed in bright colors to enhance her "canary" image and distance herself from the pure-white Simurgh.

Abilities and Powers

Paige's power makes her a superlatively-good singer, but it also makes anyone who hears her song susceptible to her suggestions. This Master aspect of her powers is capable of affecting anyone that hears her voice and is powerful enough that the PRT gave her a threat rating of Master 8.<ref>https://parahumans.wordpress.com/2012/01/14/interlude-6/</ref> A side-effect of her powers is that it can accidentally cause words that were spoken as an insult to be backed by her power, turning that insult into a parahuman Master command. This caused an unfortunate incident when she told someone who she was unaware was currently under the influence of her power to "Go fuck yourself!"

History

Background

Paidge purchased a cauldron vial to make her way as a stage musician

Story Start

Paige accidentally compelled her ex-boyfriend to maim himself after an argument. He claimed that he encouraged her to perform on stage and was therefore responsible for her success, and that because of this he deserved half of her earnings, conveniently ignoring the fact that he then cheated on her and left her while telling her she would never make it for real. Her retaliatory insult when heard by her power-influenced ex was interpreted literally.<ref name="I6" />

Despite Dragon's personal support and the fact that it was objectively an accident, she was treated like a supervillain during the trial, and eventually sentenced to life imprisonment in the Birdcage. On her way there, she encountered Bakuda and Lung.<ref name="I6">Interlude 6</ref>

Canary was eventually freed to help in the fight on Golden Morning. She joined with Weaver and the remaining Undersiders to help deal with major threats, although her powers and personality made her of minimal use. Nevertheless she was outfitted with a suit that belonged to the Dragonslayers by Saint as a gesture of goodwill.

Her ability was used by Khepri to reduce the danger of stress that the final battle and Khepri's direction of the participents was having on them. She was eventually released with everyone else.
