Appearance

He was maimed by a parahuman when he got his powers,<ref name="SB1" /> which may be what inspired his cape name Hatchet Face. His face is said to be a mass of scar tissue,with a shaved head<ref name="10.6">Parasite 10.6 </ref>.

Abilities and Powers

Hatchet Face is a power with superhuman strength and enhanced durability.<ref name="list">Wildbow's Parahuman List</ref> This combination made him a highly efficient cape-killer, as any close-quarters battle between him and another parahuman essentially turned into a fight between a regular human and a Brute.

His durability and strength has been variously stated to allow him to survive being run over y a steam roller, be tossed by the head over several blocks and stand up unscathed. His strength allowed him to move incredibly fast for his frame and allowed him to swing his namesake hatchet through a car if need be<ref name="25.6">Sting 25.6 </ref>.

He was vulnerable to attacks and ability effects from outside the range of his powers.<ref>Comment by Wildbow on Spacebattles</ref> As Cherish used to her advantage during her induction into the nine<ref name="11.g"> Interlude 11g (Anniversary Bonus) </ref>.

History

Having triggered from a bad experience involving parahumans, he announced himself by killing a superhero during a live interview.<ref name="Reddit2">Another comment by Wildbow on Reddit</ref> He became a serial killer specifically targeting capes, and especially Brutes <ref name="SB1">Another comment by Wildbow on Spacebattles</ref>. Jack Slash convinced him that the easiest way to do this would be by joining the Slaughterhouse Nine.

Before the start of the story, Hatchet Face was killed by Cherish as part of her attempt to convince Jack Slash to let her join the Nine. Bonesaw later combined his corpse with that of Oni Lee in order to create a brain-damaged puppet called Hack Job. The tinker said she had to preform an on the spot lobotomy to prevent Face's returning powers from stooping her mid surgery.

Post-Timeskip

Bonesaw created nine clones of Hatchet Face for the Slaughterhouse 9000, with another used in making a special combo-clone dubbed Tyrant. Clones were killed with great effort by the chicago Wards and people like Chevalier and Tecton.

Trivia

• He may have taken the name of Hatchet Face after the character Mona "Hatchet Face" Malnorowski, a woman with a disfigured face from the 1990s film Cry-Baby directed by John Waters.
