History

Background

Originally the Brockton Bay Brigade, this group of heroes briefly became the subject of national attention when they unmasked publicly, rechristening themselves New Wave.  Advocating superheroes without secrets and full accountability, they attempted to start a movement that stalled when a team member was murdered in her civilian identity.  The team consisted of two related nuclear families, who have all become celebrities of a sort, wearing costumes without masks or helmets, each white with an emblem personal to the member.

Story Start

As a superteam that is also an extended family, New Wave has several junior members that gained powers of their own. These individuals are nineteen year old Laserdream and fifteen year old Shielder, the children of Manpower and Lady Photon, and seventeen year old Glory Girl, daughter of Brandish and Flashbang. Panacea, the same age as Glory Girl, was revealed to be the daughter of the same villain who was brought down by the Brockton Bay Brigade. She was adopted into the family out of concern that her background would draw too much negative attention or that the foster or adoption processes might be muddled by any number of people wanting to adopt a child who was more likely to have powers (by virtue of having a parent with powers).<ref name="EbW"/> ]

Post-Leviathan

Two members of the family, Manpower and Shielder, were rather brutally killed in the Endbringer attack. Complicating matters further, Flashbang received a severe head injury with long term effects.<ref name="EbW"/>

According to Glory Girl, the team may disband, as nearly half their members are now out of action, and the family is likely struggling to deal with reduced incomes and caring for Flashbang.<ref>Sentinel 9.3</ref>

Glory Girl has stated she is considering joining the Wards. It is unknown what her fellow junior members, Laserdream and Panacea intend to do.<ref name="EbW"/>[citation needed]

Post-Slaughterhouse Nine

Disbanded, though many members remain in Brockton Bay, some operating individually while others have retired from a life as a cape<ref name="EbW">Edit by Wildbow</ref>.

Golden Morning

The remaining members of New Wave were present at the oil rig when select individuals were released.

Trivia

*The Pelham and Dallon families are, due to their known family trees, powers and their dedication to free information, (are) often used as case studies for research into parahumans and the nature or distribution of powers<ref name="EbW"/>.<ref>Queen 18.y</ref>
