Trump

Trump is one of the twelve power classifications created by the PRT still in modern day use.<ref>PRT Master Reference - Classifications</ref> Trumps have powers that can manipulate other powers in some capacity, altering, granting, strengthening, weakening or removing them entirely.<ref name=":0">Trump Can manipulate powers in some capacity, altering, granting, strengthening, weakening or removing them entirely, or has powers that interact solely with the powers of others. PRT squads are encouraged, with capes sidelined, barring all but the most threatening situations.  Ranged fire and distance is encouraged, with minimal contact and involvement, to preserve safety of involved capes. Methodology

A notable characteristic of Trump ratings is that they will always be connected to one of the other eleven classifications, albeit the exact relation can vary.<ref name=":1">Any trump trigger will also match one of the other eleven classifications in terms of what kind of powers it might give. - TRUMP, document by wildbow.</ref> Some powers can have a small Trump note, while others have the Trump aspect as the most noticeable, where the other rating is only a method of expression or even just a complimentary factor.<ref>This can serve as a vector for the trump power to be expressed.  If a power has low trumpness and fits the Mover trigger requisites, then it will be a Mover power with perhaps a note or touch of flavor as a nod to the trump classification, such as the ability to shrug off powers while moving full speed.  If that trigger has a high trump fixation, then the power might well be a trump power with the mover power being a vector or complimentary factor. - TRUMP, document by wildbow.</ref> That said, the Trump rating covers an incredibly wide range of abilities, but can be roughly categorized in eleven different groups, were individual powers can fall in multiple groups<ref>Finally, the relationship to the powers falls into several categories, listed below (to be expanded into fuller descriptions): - TRUMP, document by wildbow.</ref>:

Four groups interact with the powers of others:

• Abilities that reduce the effectiveness of other powers, sometimes outright nullifying or erasing them.<ref>Null - Power nullifies, erases or dampens powers.

Trigger:  Adverse, direct, ongoing relationship with power in question.  (Being controlled by a Master, or actively burned by a acetokinetic) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

• Abilities that give or share powers with others, temporarily or permanently.<ref name=":2">Two - Partner, bond, gift powers.

Trigger:  Positive relationship with powers plays into trigger.  (Being protected by a hero, to no use, in agonizing pain while a cape uses power to keep you alive) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

• Powers that allow the parahuman to steal, borrow, or copy other powers.<ref name=":3">Three - Steal, borrow, copy powers.

Trigger:  Mental or emotional relationship to the powers.  More negative, more ‘steal’ than ‘borrow’ or ‘copy’.  (Triggering after being captured and emotionally manipulated by a Heartbreaker type, rejected by a cape who led you on with the idea you could be a sidekick) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

• Powers that scramble, disrupt, or alter powers in some manner.<ref>Five - Scramble, disrupt, alter powers.

Trigger:  Indirect relationship to powers.  May not be aware of powers/cape, but environment/situation is threatening, with a single source.  (Power-created parasites make a mob of people frenzied and vicious, bank robbery in another part of building leads to rapidly dropping temperature in triggeree’s office, causing hypothermia) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

A second set of five groups deal with the flexibility of the powers of the user, this can include:

• Powers with variable aspects, where one part of the power is fixed while other is flexible.<ref>One - Power varies, has one aspect set in stone, other end of power varies.  Smoke power that varies in how it applies, or always a shotgun blast, but the effect varies, or always a positive aura for allies but effect changes.

Trigger:  Concrete, immediate effect at work, prompting trigger.  Resultant power likely won’t directly match the effect, but could be related or a step removed.   (Surrounded by pyrokinetic’s flames, get smoke or magma power, or a something-kinesis) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

• Abilities where the parahuman can pick between different options on the fly, but where as a trade-off the powers are often slower, weaker or clunkier.<ref>Four - Can select options on the fly, often slower, weaker, or clunkier.

Trigger - Powers were a factor or reality over the longer term, not necessarily a long-term trigger. (The moment of realization when you get fired and realize a chronokinetic has literally been stealing your time to get ahead, multiple organ failure after radiation buildup from sleeping/living with your cape spouse) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

• Powers that cycle between different variants, were unpredictability is rewarded with more raw power.<ref>Seven - Chaos, rotation, cycling through variant powers, unpredictability rewarded with power.

Trigger: Crazy, chaotic situation, many powers actively in use. (Bystander during an endbringer defense, henchman of a villain with a kill order and a dozen powered manhunters on his heels) - TRUMP, document by wildbow.</ref>

• Abilities that can toggling between different modes, often expressed as different Breaker states.<ref>Eight - Balance, modes, toggle. Breakerish or switching between related or complementary tools.

• It is also possible for power sets to be nearly limitless in both option and choice, but where other large drawbacks apply.<ref>Ten - No limits on the power, choice allowed, but often big drawbacks.

The last two groups deal with who can be effected by the Trump aspect:

• Powers that can effect large groups of people.<ref>Six - En masse, groups.  Power affects multiple people.

Trigger:  The power affecting the individual covers a wide area, environmental or detached enough to be close to such.  (ie. Apartment building is turned into hostile flesh-labyrinth) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

• Abilities that create minions or other vehicles with Trump effects.<ref>Nine - Vector.  Minions or other vehicles for trump effects.

Trigger: Powers impinged/altered/distorted interpersonal relationship(s) - TRUMP, document by wildbow. </ref>

Trigger events

Trigger events that lead to Trump powers are actually extremely similar to other trigger events, with one key difference: They involve powers.<ref name=":4">Trump triggers involve powers.  The person triggering need not know this - it matters to the shard. - TRUMP, document by wildbow.</ref> As such, Trump trigger events always match one of the other eleven classifications in terms of what kind of powers it might give.<ref name=":1" /> How the Trump aspect expresses itself depends on two factors.

First of all, the degree powers are involved and the proximity of the parahuman using these powers.<ref name=":5">In terms of ‘trumpness’, take note of how close the relationship is between the triggeree’s shard and the other shards that it ‘pings’.  Proximity and degrees of separation matter here.  Being face to face with a threatening cape would be the most direct relationship in both proximity and separation, while a tinker drone might be a serious degree of separation, with proximity varying.  A fire created by a pyrokinetic that has since left the scene or ceased uffecting said flames would be very low in both categories, to the point that it might have very little ‘trumpness’, even to the point of not being recognizable as a trump classification. - TRUMP, document by wildbow.</ref> As powers become more involved and the parahuman gets closer, the Trump aspect gets stronger, relatively to other classifications.<ref name=":5" />

Secondly, the type of Trump power to manifest depends heavily on the relationship (level of focus, level of abstraction, and feelings) to the powers<ref>The key points to pay attention to in such a trigger are the degree of ‘trumpness’, the associated elements of the trigger, and finally, the relationship to the powers: how focused, positive, negative, or abstract they might be. - TRUMP, document by wildbow.</ref>: For example, if the relationship is a positive one, the ability to gift or share powers becomes more likely<ref name=":2" />, while the ability to steal them is indicative of a negative relationship<ref name=":3" />.

The person triggering does not need to powers are involved in his trigger event.<ref name=":4" />

Combinations with other ratings

As stated earlier, Trump ratings will always be combined with ratings in one of other classifications.<ref name=":1" />

When dealing with Trumps, the PRT encourages the use of PRT-squads, with capes sidelined, barring all but the most threatening situations. Ranged fire and distance is encouraged, with minimal contact and involvement to preserve the safety of involved capes. The trump effect blocks powers, implying that the relationship to the power at the time of the trigger is direct and negative. I'm picturing Usher being lifted by TK and dragged toward some threat (building's edge? churning machinery?) with the telekinetic further back, advancing. By lowering his enemies to a baseline level and then going after them with his still-enhanced strength and toughness, he gave every cape cause for worry.
