Interlude 7.y II is the twelfth chapter and second interlude of Torch. Gary Nieves helps organize the Bet evacuation, an unknown group attacks and is rebuffed by Dragon and Defiant, Gary has a meeting, is told he can win the election with public fear of parahumans and another earth’s patronage.

Gary Nieves and his people arrive at the earth Bet portals to help with a flood

A call comes in that a few flood of evacuees is coming in and some of the already tired group steps up to help.

Explosions and shoots ring out as an insurgent group assaults the portal. On duty heroes jump into action and civilians are caught in between. Dragon and Defiant arrive and intervene to help.

Afterword the heroes chat with Gary. They inform him that the onsite manager died in the attack.

Later Nieves meets with Erwin Daeyoung a korean man, and former Public representative. He outlines the history of Wynn and talks about all the things that could go wrong under her leadership. Gary is skeptical but Erwin tries to assuage him with a strategy that could help Gary get back in the mayoral race. Erwin shares a database of 'victims' of parahumans. At the top of the list is the Martin's.

• The PRT and Cauldron would have intervened before the muckraking about parahumans like Erwinn's plan gained any major steam.^{[citation needed]}
