The first chapter of Gestation and the serial. It introduces Taylor, her situation at school, and her desire to be a superhero.

Synopsis

The chapter starts with Taylor in her World Issues class taught by Mr. Gladly where she's anxiously awaiting the class to end. Mr. Gladly gives them a homework assignment on capes for the weekend. Afterwards, Taylor heads to the bathroom to spend her lunch hour. Unfortunately, Madison, Sophia, and Emma find her there and trap her in the stall while they pour drinks over her. When they leave, she inspects the damage and rages about being powerless to do anything, all while resisting the urge to use her powers on the school. She decides to go home despite having an art project due.

Notes

• This is the first mention of the Triumvirate. The aren't mentioned again until they show up in person during Extermination.
• We see Taylor's temper for the first time in this chapter and we'll find out she apparently inherited it from her father in Interlude 1.
