Behemoth is one of the Endbringers. He is the first of the Endbringers, followed by Leviathan and Simurgh. He's a dynakinetic, meaning he has complete control over all types of energy from radiation to kinetic. On top of this he has no Manton Limitation and is the most durable of the Endbringers. Although he is very slow and incapable of dodging attacks he can render a region inhabitable over a course of a few hours. His first direct appearance in the plot was in Drone 23.5.
Appearance
Behemoth is over forty-five feet tall. He has gray, leathery skin topped with cooled magma and obsidian-like crags, some of which can even reach 10 feet in length. His body is described as a muscle-bound caricature midway between a human and a bear. Behemoth's hands are merely mangled growths of obsidian-looking material and his arms are around as thick as oak trees. The growths of obsidian on his head resemble horns that are rooted in the middle of his face. In a gap between two of the horns he has a single red, glowing eye. His mouth is a jagged gap, lined by obsidian teeth with a deep glowing coming from the throat.
Abilities and Powers
Dynakinesis
Most of Behemoth's power's are simply variations of his all encompassing manipulation of all kinds of energy. What makes this ability even more dangerous is he isn't limited by the Manton Effect, meaning he can affect living matter as if if were any other material. The most common expressions of this are:
Lightning
One of Behemoth's most iconic and feared abilities is his ability to create and guide lightning. Most likely he can generate anywhere but he typically launches it from the tips of his claws. These lightning bolts can range from an average sized lightning bolt to being able to cut one of Dragon's craft in half in only five hits. These particular bolts are mainly used to start fires in areas that will burn the fastest and behaves like normal lighting. However when he focuses on this ability he can blow apart Dragon-craft in one hit and produce bolts the diameter of an apartment building. Behemoth can also guide these bolts to hit pinpoint targets and clustered groups of people. They also defy the normal laws of conduction and can arc out of metal objects when normally they'd ground out.
Radiation Field/Kill Radius
A by-product of his control of radiation and no Manton limitation, Behemoth can instantly incinerate anyone who ventures too close to him. The recommended distance is over 100 feet so there's no risk of him closing the gap before one can get away. This ability makes anyone without extreme durability or ranged attacks nearly worthless in the fight. When he focuses on this ability he begins to glow bright white and he quickly irradiates the entire area.
Roar
By using his manipulation of sonics and kinetic energy whenever he roars he can cause massive damage to an area or groups of people. Within seconds of being hit by it eardrums and eyes alike will often explode from the sheer force. If a person is not immediately brought to safety their internal organs will quickly liquefy. It can even be powerful enough at times to shatter forcefields and knock over buildings.
Shock-waves
One of Behemoths ranged attacks is the ability to produce powerful shock-waves. He typically generates these by clapping his hands of claws together. They are powerful enough to knock over buildings and often come in quick succession. These also have a double purpose of being used to spread the radiation he produces over a further area.
Heat Generation
One of his more basic abilities is to simply generate massive amounts of heat. Besides simply cooking opponents to death he can use it to superheat to temperatures capable of destroying airborne drones, guiding fires to vulnerable spots, and melting debris into balls of magma (which can then throw).
Energy Redirection
One of his few defensive abilities besides simply tanking any shots thrown at him is to simply redirect the energy from the attack. With this he can move the energy from an attack into the ground around him or even use it to strenthen his own attacks. Notable uses include deflecting away all of Alexandria's punches and even channeling her attack's energy into his fist to smack her out of the air. However he can only do this when he knows an attack is coming.
History
Behemoth, as the first Endbringer, has attacked the most times. Attacks include Marun Field, Iran, on December 13th, 1992; Sao Paulo on July 6th 1993; New York, on March 26th, 1994; Jakarta, on November 1st, 1994; Moscow, on June 18th, 1995; Johannesburg, on January 3rd, 1996; Cologne, on November 6th, 1996; Buenos Aires, on September 30th, 1997; Jinzhou, on July 3rd, 1998; Ankara, on July 21st, 1999; Lyon, on April 10th, 2000; Vanderhoof, on February 25th, 2001; Lagos, on December 6th, 2001; Bogotá, on August 20th, 2002; and Lyon, on October 3rd, 2003.
On July 26th, 2011, Behemoth attacked New Delhi. He overwhelmed most of the defending parahumans, destroyed most of the city, and killed most of the inhabitants. His attack was interrupted by Phīr Se's time-looped superlaser attack, which stripped him of his outer coating, and then Behemoth was interrupted by the arrival of Scion, who engaged him with greater persistence than normal.
Behemoth was then killed by Scion after Scion ripped him in half, nullified his power, denied him escape, and then vaporized him.
Quotes
"Forty-five feet tall at the very least, he climbed forth from underground. His skin was crusted with black stone that might have been obsidian, layers of what might have been cooled magma sloughing off of him as he planted his feet on the ground and stood straight.
‘Straight’ might have been too generous. He was built like a caricature of a bodybuilder, or a bear-human hybrid. He rippled with muscle, his skin gray, thick and leathery like the hide of a rhinoceros or elephant. His black obsidian horns were so heavy his head hung down. They weren't rooted in his forehead, but in the middle of his face, a half-dozen curved shafts of black crystal twisting their way out of his face and back over the top of his head, some ten feet long. A single red eye glowed from between the gap in two horns, positioned too low. His mouth was a jagged gap in his lower face, twisting up to a point near his temple, lined by jagged horn-like growths that were too irregular to be called teeth." -Interlude 15.z
