==Skitter Facts==
Skitter is a Supervillain known worldwide, and is the leader of a team that took over a major US city, held it against numerous S-class threats, continuous attempt by the Protectorate, PRT, and Wards to reclaim it, various supervillain groups, and won the love/fear of its people. As such, there are certain things that everyone knows about Skitter:
*When the boogeyman goes to sleep, he checks his closet for Skitter.
*There was briefly a a street named after Skitter but it had to be changed because no one crosses Skitter and lives.
*Skitter doesn’t flush the toilet, she scares the shit out of it.
*Skitter threw a grenade and killed 50 people, then it exploded.
*Once a cobra bit Skitter’s leg. After five days of excruciating pain, the cobra died.
*Unlike Clockblocker, time doesn’t stop for Skitter. Instead, it waits for her permission before moving.
*Skitter once had smoke inhalation, blindness, some messed up ribs, and was covered in puke. Or as she called it “A minor inconvenience”.
*One time, Skitter fought a Dragon. She killed it by breathing fire on it.
*Skitter doesn’t run from danger. Danger runs from her, gets tripped up, and has its crotch melted off by spiderbites.
*Someone once thought of using grenades on Skitter. He thought twice.
*Normal rodeo is for wusses. Skitter rodeo-rides Endbringers. While stabbing them with a halberd.
*If you can see her, she can grievously maim or kill you. If you can’t see her, she can grievously maim or kill you, while calmly drinking tea.
*Nightmares don’t make Skitter whimper in her sleep. Skitter makes nightmares whimper.(14.11)
*Chthulhu horrors find that even the thought of Skitter makes them crazy. And they get creeped out when something that even ''looks'' like Skitter is nearby. (18.z)
*There is no Santa Claus. But Skitter sees you when you’re sleeping, she knows when you’re awake, she knows when you’ve been bad or good so be good or suffer unimaginable pain. (20.1)
*Skitter does not get dehydrated. She ties dehydration in knots and embarrasses him in front of everyone, instead. (20.4)
*Skitter once decided to distract a tidal wave. She succeeded. (8.4)
*Do not bring a knife to a Skitter fight.
*“The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth.” Skitter made it her boyfriend.
*Schools in Brocton Bay don’t have fire alarms. They have Skitter alarms.
*It’s been proven that the universe you survive in is the universe you don’t try to bomb Skitter.
*Skitter can count ''everything'' that dances on the head of a pin. She put them there.
*Skitter’s lunch begins with violence, followed by terror, and ends with the takeover of a city. If she’s already taken over the city, then lunch ends with free barbecue. ''If she likes you.''
*Skitter decided to try teenage rebellion once. The city is now under the control of herself and 6 other teenagers.
*Skitter mentioned she was bored once. The universe threw 3 different S-class threats at her city, and all three regretted it. The first was driven off, the second reduced to a third of their numbers, and the last was entirely obliterated. The universe appears to be deliberating it’s next move.
*Skitter started her villain career as an undercover hero. She was so skilled that when the villains she’d set out to betray found out, they decided to offer her her position back.
*Skitter was complaining about some mild aches and pains when a hero with the ability to absorb injuries tried to heal her. He started screaming and yelling moments later.
*Skitter convinced the universe to let her flip the bird at evolution.
*Skitter logic-bombed an advanced AI that was explicitly immune to logic bombs.
*Chariot uses his tinker-segway for mobility. Bitch uses her dogs. Skitter uses S-class supervillains.
*Eldritch abominations find one Skitter to be more of a threat than the Triumvirate combined.
*A supervillain once looked at Skitter funny. She cut out his eyes.
*Lunchbreaks are the times when the world stops what it’s doing to get as far away from Skitter as possible.
*There are only Four Horseman of the Apocalypse because Skitter rides a giant beetle.
*Superheroes who talk to Skitter commonly suffer from mental breakdowns because they aren’t as good a person as the super villain who gouged out a man’s eyes.
*Actually, Skitter does have eyes on the back of her head. And on the wall. And around the corner. And on your head…
*Jack Slash is so terrifying that few heroes and villains can bear to look him in the eye. He ran a away from Skitter.
*Skitter once made an Endbringer cry.
*In Brockton bay arachnophobia is no longer a recognized medical condition. Instead there are several new conditions for people who are not yet deathly afraid of bugs.
*In Brockton Bay, there is a supervillain who’s super powered guessing was so powerful, it mistaken for mind reading. She goes to Skitter for advice.
*Skitter once chopped a pseudo-Endbringer in half just by looking at it.
*When Skitter watches paint, it doesn’t dry. It wets itself.
*Skitter can win a land war in Asia.
*Hitler didn’t just commit suicide. He was making sure he never ran into Skitter.
*When Skitter makes out with a guy, she cures mental illness. When Skitter makes out with other girls, she cures a plague.
*Skitter mentioned once that she’d like to visit Australia. Hero-capes worldwide collectively went “NOPE,” and preemptively evacuated… never to return.
*People have tried to kill Skitter with fire. Multiple times. Apparently it’s not the only way to be sure.
*A meteor didn’t cause the dinosaurs to go extinct. They saw the ginormous bugs they were living with and simply gave up on life, knowing Skitter was coming soon*. (*note: dinosaurs sense of the passage of time very poorly)
*Skitter scares the bejeezus out of people who can literally hold the power of the sun in their hands.
*If you can’t see Skitter, she can still see you. If you *can* see Skitter, you’re about to get dogpiled by a swarm of bugs that weigh more than you do.
*Skitter doesn’t die if she’s been killed.
*If Skitter was at one of their colonies, Weyland-Yutani WOULD nuke the site from orbit. And they still wouldn’t be sure.
*Class-S threats are designated S because they are measured in Skitters.
*Skitter isn’t made of win. Win is made of Skitter.
*Skitter has never gotten a cold. She once had a concussion, but the city never recovered.
*When Skitter makes pretty costumes for her friends, her friends are afraid to NOT wear them.
*Skitter didn’t need to tell the PRT that Echidna was a Class-S threat. Anything that faces Skitter willingly is automatically classified either Class-S or [assumed deceased].
*On Earth-Bet, Kick Ass is a documentary about Skitter. After winning Best Picture in the Please Don’t Hurt Us category, it is now used as a litmus test to gauge the mental fortitude of Special Forces applicants.
*Skitter can make snow angels in asphalt.
*Skitter was never blinded. Light just had a panic attack when it realized who it had fucked with.
*Skitter is the reason villains don’t pay taxes. She mails in a picture of her costumed self, and the IRS mails back an apology.
*The villain known as Coil once successfully assassinated Skitter. She didn’t even notice it. He, on the other hand, very much noticed her assassinating him right back.
*It’s exceedingly hard to seriously tempt Skitter – unless you’re offering her either a fight with a class-S threat or a hot cup of tea.
*Fate chose to make Skitter a girl because a male Skitter wouldn’t have been able walk with balls that big.
*Skitter is so hard to capture that the only person good enough to do so is Skitter.
*The PRT did eventually beat Skitter. How? She got bored and gave herself up.
*The difference between Skitter and Chuck Norris?
Skitter Facts are <em>true</em>.

Taylor Hebert is the main character of Worm.

Background

The first major event involving Taylor was the death of her mother, Annette Rose Hebert, in a car crash later attributed to texting while driving. It is widely speculated throughout the story that this was the cause of her first trigger event. As a result of the incident, Taylor becomes closed off and rigid. Her previously strong friendship with Emma Barnes became strained due to this change.

Just before she entered high school, Emma suddenly and unexpectedly abandoned her to form a trio with Sophia Hess and Madison Clements. They began aggressively bullying her for more than two years, including one event that caused her to trigger. Once Taylor recovered, she started to prepare herself for when she would become a hero. She started exercising, training her power, doing research and preparing her costume.

Appearance and Personality

Taylor

Taylor is a relatively-tall, rail-thin, fair skinned 15 year old girl with long, dark curly hair. She describes herself in 1.1 as "the gloomy girl that never spoke up in class." She steadily gains confidence throughout the story as her civilian life is subsumed by her cape life. Her hair is auburn<ref name=SV1>http://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/posts/2277872/</ref>. Taylor is about 5’8″ (178 cm) and 125 lbs (56 kg)<ref>https://parahumans.wordpress.com/2013/05/25/drone-23-1/#comment-24568</ref>.

Skitter

"...Skitter is an unpredictable young woman tending towards acts of apparent kindness to those she deems her subjects and bursts of sudden and extreme violence towards those she sees as her enemies." ("Know where you are" pamphlets, Colony 15, 10)

Skitter's costume consists of a black-and-grey bodysuit made out of spider silk with armor panels made out of shells and exoskeletons augmented with more silk. Her mask has sections of armor imitating mandibles covering her jaw and dull yellow lenses (taken from a pair of goggles) that incorporate lenses from a spare pair of glasses. Her mask leaves the back of her head uncovered and her hair free to fly behind her. Throughout the story her costume adapts to include a full-head mask, clawed fingertips, a tattered half-cape and a tattered, knee-length skirt.

Weaver

Weaver's costume consists of a light grey bodysuit with cleaner, slim dark gray armor panels. The mantle around her shoulders and the cloth hanging from her belt are marked with electric blue with the Undersiders' emblem in miniature at each corner, flipped upside down so that they face upward. <ref>https://parahumans.wordpress.com/2013/05/16/cell-22-6/</ref>

Khepri

The Khepri costume consists of a black body suit with white armor panels and lenses. It includes none of the stylistic elements of the previous costumes.

Abilities and Powers

Taylor's Queen Administrator shard grants her complete mental control over most invertebrate (e.g. insects, arachnids, crustaceans) within a three block range. The range of her ability extends when placed in situations that resemble the conditions of her trigger event; a fact designed by the Entity to foster conflict. She has a secondary ability which gives her increased mental multitasking - allowing her to give specific orders to individual bugs in her swarm simultaneously.

She is able to interpret all of an insects senses e.g. enabling her to "see" through her insects by sensing the shapes of the surfaces the bugs were crawling on, or the areas the vermin wasn’t occupying, although sight and sound are harder to interpret due to their dissimilarity to human senses. However through practice she can train herself to comprehend sounds and sights that her bugs see and hear.

Over time her shard matures and splits in two, with a sub-shard capable of forming new powers, which will retain similar functionality to the progenitor shard. An example of this is Between Taylor and Aiden.

In addition, Taylor has come up with a multitude of creative uses of her power. For example, she can produce large quantities of spider silk, coat her insects in petroleum jelly and capscaicin to use them like pepper spray, create humanoid figures, mask her movements, and clear out rat infestations.

After Panacea removed the restrictions on her power, Taylor's range and fine control were cut and her power increased to affect everything within sixteen feet of herself.

Utility Backpack

Taylor's utility compartment, where she stashes necessary items and weapons in the armor panel that covers her back. In 18.3, Miss Militia  takes a look at the contents and sees:

  • A handgun (Trickster's spare).
  • A length of spider silk fashioned into a long cord.
  • Pepper spray.
  • A changepurse, containing cotton swabs (to muffle the noise), needles, smelling salts, and change.
  • A collapsible baton.
  • A combat knife (sturdy enough to be used as a crowbar if needed)

Conclusion

As of the epilogue Taylor is in N.Y.A with her father and the Earth Aleph version of her mother. Her powers have been shut off by Contessa. It is left unclear as to whether this was actually Earth Aleph or an afterlife metaphor[citation needed].

Trivia

  • Taylor likely triggered Monday the third of January 2011 as it was described as the first day of school in the new year.
  • If she hadn't triggered, Taylor would likely have simply stopped going to school<ref>https://www.reddit.com/r/Parahumans/comments/2szsy2/what_wouldve_happened_to_taylor_if_shed_never/</ref>.
  • "Khepri" is a god in ancient Egyptian religion connected with the scarab beetle, because the scarab rolls balls of dung across the ground, an act that the Egyptians saw as a symbol of the forces that move the sun across the sky.
  • Taylor's schedule at school was four 1.5 hour a day classes, rotating each semester - during the story, computer, world issues, lunch, art and math<ref name="SV1" />.

Quotes

  • (To Lung): "Don't underestimate me."
  • (To Triumph): "Sorry. I didn't want to go this far."
  • (To Doctor Mother): "I know what that's like, I've walked down that road. Maybe not so ugly a road, but I've gone that route. All the way along, I told myself it sucked, but I wouldn't do it differently. I did everything I did for a reason. Except now, having reached the point I was working towards, I finally do regret it all. The last two years, the way I treated my teammates, leaving the Undersiders... I'd change it all in a heartbeat."
