Emma is one of the most popular girls attending Winslow High. She's described as a tall, curvy redhead who is pretty enough to do amateur modeling. She spends most of the first few arcs bullying Taylor.

After the events of Extermination, her family has moved to either Portland, Maine or Portland, Oregon and only appears during phone calls with Shadowstalker in Sentinel 9.6 and Interlude 10.

Relationships

Emma and Taylor were best friends until the summer before high school. She led the bullying that began when school started and was able to be especially cruel due to being privy to all of Taylor's secrets.

Sophia Hess is her current best friend. They became friends during summer camp when she learned about Sophia's powers. She's Sophia's confidant and is the one Sophia calls for emotional support. The state of this relationship is questionable because Regent forced Sophia to call Emma and tell her she's secretly been in love with her.

Madison Clement rounds out the trio of girls, but their relationship isn't detailed as much as Emma's and Sophia's.

Her father Alan Barnes is a lawyer and seems to dote on her and protect her from her mistakes as witnessed in Hive 5.3 and Hive 5.4.
