Blood Diamond was a cellblock leader in the Birdcage who was replaced by Ingenue.

Personality

A sadistic leader who ruled by fear. She would choose one woman from her cellblock each week to punish as an example to others, and would often choose the same one until she was broken from repeated punishments.

History

Blood Diamond ran the Birdcage cellblock Ingenue was placed in. She was a cruel leader who punished one of the women in her block every week with humiliation and torture. The severity of these punishments was such that the warden at one point remotely closed doors and temporarily removed oxygen from rooms to make it stop. She usually singled out one woman to punish repeatedly unless someone did something specific to offend her.<ref>Itsy bitsy Miranda Webb had been told what to do and how to do it by Blood Diamond, who picked the one girl from her cell block that had disappointed her the most every week and punished them. Often it was the same girl, unless someone else did something to put themselves in Blood Diamond’s bad books. Heads shaved, forced to eat only the expired foods, beaten, cut, nailed to the table. The administrator of the ‘cage, it hadn’t been Dragon back then, they’d started slamming the doors shut and sucking oxygen out of the room, just for a few moments, to put a stop to the worst of it. - Excerpt from Interlude 15.y II</ref> She set her sights on Ingenue once her previous victim broke. Ingenue convinced a male prisoner to kill Blood Diamond, then took over the cellblock after removing her competition.
