Eden is an Entity. She is Zion's counterpart, and one of the two sources of the various superpowers that were granted to humanity.
Background
As they approached their destination, the Thinker and the Warrior drew together and picked out various sub-worlds for themselves; arrival points, destinations for their shards to root, and hosts for the extensions of those shards. It saw the Warrior's constant communications distracting as it was using its powers to map out their actions after their arrival. It reformed itself for deeper simulation before it noticed a third broadcast. It recognized the broadcast as from another member of its species, hesitated and then signaled its own location.
It received a garbled reply and takes time to analyze it. The meeting between it and the third entity was violent - grinding together, destroying one another in a brutal exchange of shards. It worked to salvage key shards, to put ones it could afford to lose on the exterior body. They break apart before the Warrior expresses concern and the Thinker sends a confident response back.
The Thinker allowed the Warrior to take over some of its duties before looking through its new shards. It begins to form a simulacrums of the host species, sets out criteria for an optimal future, and then looks to a future that matches it. The Warrior interrupts the simulation and it absently agrees on their destination. It thinks about the future it had seen, refining it as the Warrior refines the shards. It reorganizes itself as it and the Warrior approach and, despite the Warrior's warning, sends out a confident reply.
It works on the reorganization until it hits the ground. In doing so, it alters one of the third entity’s powers, replacing its own ability to find the optimal future. It realizes it made a mistake, too late, and hits the ground too hard.
The Thinker started to pull itself together. It opened raised its head and opened its eyes to see Fortuna before it and recognized that she had the shard it had discarded. It used its barrier to restrict the shard, rendering it and others like it immune to her power, and smiled. It continued to create its avatar and bent over.
Doctor Mother drove a knife into its neck - severing a connection when it was most vulnerable. The Thinker struggled to form itself and failed. Then, the Thinker died.

Legacy
Following her death, Eden's body was used by Cauldron as a source of serums to give people powers, i.e. to connect them to Eden's shards; although there are some natural triggers with Eden shards, e.g. Leet.
Trivia
- The name "Eden" is not used in the text - it was invented in a comment by a fan and then used as a character tag on the Interlude.
