Abilities and Powers

Contender is a Trump/Shaker who is capable of trapping people in an arena that he creates, in which their powers cease to work, it extends to tinkertech too<ref>it was Contender who stepped forward, using his power to draw a glowing bubble around himself and the trap both. Two seconds passed, and the bubble receded. The trap was broken at his feet. No symptoms. - Excerpt from Heavens 12.4</ref>. The arenas border also partially blocks out air and light.<ref>Polarize 10.13</ref> The bubble, while highly resistant, is not completely impenetrable, Swansong was able to pop it from the outside.<ref>Heavens 12.3</ref>

Equipment

Carries a gas mask and some kind of toxic gas that he uses in conjunction with his ability.

History

Background

Contender used to be known as 'The Pug', short for Pugilist. Prior to Gold Morning, he would pick fights with various capes based on bets he would make online. Eventually, he graduated from this and started going after kill orders.

After Gold Morning, he reemerged as Contender.

Post-Goddess' Takeover

With Noontide, was part of the team of mercenaries that attacked Breakthrough and other hero teams who were investigating a crime scene.

Assisted Cradle on the attack of certain members of Breakthrough and The Undersiders,<ref>Interlude 11.c II</ref> and later in the day he was in the welcoming party for Antares' revenge attack and brutally countered Number boys. One of boys rewarded Contender with the loss of eyes for the efforts. Paris was forced to deliver him into Bitter Pill's clinic.<Ref>Heavens 12.5</ref>
