Shielder
Shielder is the youngest member of New Wave's second generation, at fifteen. He has a powerset almost identical to her mother, Lady Photon and sister Laserdream, with flight, the ability to project 'hard light' blasts and a forcefield he can shape at will. His talents primarily lie with the forcefield, and his abilities with the other two powers are fairly minor, barely featuring in his appearances.
Shielder wears a white skintight costume with a blue tinted visor and a blue shield emblem on his chest. He dyes his hair blue to complete the look.
Shielder died during the Endbringer attack.
Powers
Shielder is far and away the best forcefield user in Brockton Bay, with the ability to shape them at will and fix their position in midair without any grounding. In the Endbringer arc, his shield withstands the full force of an incoming tidal wave that was strong enough to level buildings.
Shielder also has the ability to fly, but it is unknown how maneuverable or fast he is - in his last appearance, he is shown using his sister's assistance to fly, but this may be due to exhaustion after warding off the aforementioned tidal wave. He can project hard light blasts, but these are not as effectual as the other members of his immediate family.
Trivia
- Shielder's 'color' on his team is light blue.
- His name is fairly self explanatory, given his focus on forcefields. The simplicity of this codename might be rooted in his youth and the fact that he apparently got his powers fairly early on in life (and was thus less educated and mature when he picked his name).
