Doctor Mother does not have any powers of her own, but is from an alternate dimension. She was brought across by Eden, Scion's mate. After Contessa killed Eden, Doctor Mother was stranded on Earth Aleph with Eden's body and the knowledge of Scion and Eden's plans that Contessa had gained.

Contessa and Doctor Mother formed Cauldron to find a way to kill Scion and save humanity. They were able to give people powers by attaching Shards from Eden to them. Some people they sold powers to, such as Battery and Pretender. Some they offered them to, in order to cure their diseases, such as Alexandria and Eidolon. Some people they took by force - these became the Case 53s, such as Weld, Garotte and  all of Faultline's Crew except for Faultline herself.

Doctor Mother assumed the lead role in distributing these serums. She was the leader of the anti-Scion efforts for a long time, although she kept the nature of their foe secret for a long time to prevent panic and disruption. Eventually, when Scion attacked Cauldron's headquarters, she was killed by Garotte.
