Personality[edit]

A sadistic leader who ruled by fear. She would choose one woman from her cell block each week to punish as an example to others, and would often choose the same one until she was broken from repeated punishments.<ref name=15y1/> Despite this her cellblock was considered the "girliest"<ref name=15y2/>

Abilities[edit]

Leadership skills needed to take and hold a cellblock in the birdcage, mainly through fear but still.<ref name=15y1/>

History[edit]

Background[edit]

At some point Blood Diamond was arrested and committed to the Birdcage.

It is unknown if it was during her tenure that the birdcage ended it's sex segregation policy.<ref name=I6e4>“Listen, I’m sticking you in cell block E. The woman that put herself in charge of that cell block goes by the codename Lustrum. She’s a pretty extreme feminist and misandrist, but she protects the girls in her block, and it’s also the block furthest from the hole the men opened into the women’s half of the Birdcage. If you’re willing to play along, buy in or pretend to buy into her way of thinking, I think she’ll keep you safest.” - Excerpt from Interlude 6</ref>

End[edit]

Blood Diamond ran the Birdcage cellblock Ingenue was placed in. She was a cruel leader who punished one of the women in her block every week with humiliation and torture. The severity of these punishments was such that the warden at one point remotely closed doors and temporarily removed oxygen from rooms to make it stop. She usually singled out one woman to punish repeatedly unless someone did something specific to offend her.<ref name=15y1>Itsy bitsy Miranda Webb had been told what to do and how to do it by Blood Diamond, who picked the one girl from her cell block that had disappointed her the most every week and punished them. Often it was the same girl, unless someone else did something to put themselves in Blood Diamond’s bad books. Heads shaved, forced to eat only the expired foods, beaten, cut, nailed to the table. The administrator of the ‘cage, it hadn’t been Dragon back then, they’d started slamming the doors shut and sucking oxygen out of the room, just for a few moments, to put a stop to the worst of it.
[...]
Ingenue looked down at her feet, noted a bit of dirt on the toe, and lifted her foot up, so her ankle crossed her thigh. She cleaned it up. A cruder person like Blood Diamond might have made their servants lick it off, but Miranda had no interest in degradation.- Excerpt from Interlude 15.y II</ref> She set her sights on Ingenue once her previous victim broke. Ingenue convinced a male prisoner to kill Blood Diamond, then took over the cellblock after removing her competition.<ref name=15y2>Then Blood Diamond had exhausted the use of her girl, broken her. Everyone knew and nobody said that she was looking for her next girl to set as an example. She had given Miranda a sideways look.

So Miranda had given a boy from the men’s side of the prison a different sort of look. The kind of look that was sly and inviting at the same time, that formed a hook in the curl of the eyelashes and tilt of the head, then set that hook with a wink.
[...]
Blood Diamond had had an accident. The only reasons she could find for her own nomination to Blood Diamond’s position managing the girliest end of the girl’s side of the prison were her sweet disposition and the fact nobody else wanted the job.

Well… Love Bite had wanted it, but Love Bite had her head torn from her shoulders. Teacup had wanted it, but Teacup had had her porcelain armor torn off, her head shaved, and her tongue torn out. - Excerpt from Interlude 15.y II</ref>

Trivia[edit]

  • A Blood or Conflict Diamonds are precious stones sold to fuel wars. Which 'side' sells it is meaningless.
