One of the "monstrous" parahumans known as case 53's and current team leader of the Brockton Bay Wards, Weld has a ferrous biology that absorbs metal, a process which he cannot entirely control. Weld has some ability to shapeshift, an extremely durable body, and enhanced strength. He also has a proportionate weight - for example, he needs a specially reinforced chair.
Weld does not need to eat, sleep or breathe. He could cross an ocean by walking across the sea floor.
