The Undersiders decline to attend the Florida fight, as they lack firepower or utility. Only Tattletale goes, her role doubling as a fact-finding mission. Being more in the background, joining teams of thinkers, she's able to provide some inklings on Endbringer makeup. This subtly alters the response and the offense against Endbringers in subsequent months and years. It's possible that Tattletale gets targeted more aggressively by the Simurgh, sooner than she did in New Delhi. I give her long, long odds at making it to Gold Morning. The rest of the group remain as Coil's playing pieces on the board, holding their own against Armsmaster's Protectorate with Coil's help. The group alters and takes on Trainwreck (who becomes an uneasy acquaintance of Rachel) as well as some hired mercenaries from Boston and New York. -->

Trainwreck didn’t look like much, just going by the face. He had a round face, small eyes, greasy hair tied back in a ponytail and scarred cheeks.  He looked like a homeless guy who hadn’t had a shower in a long time.  The only thing setting him apart from the Merchants were the gunshot wound near the corner of his jaw and the steam-powered armor that rendered him strong enough to pound the crap out of Armsmaster.
<ref>[[Tangle 6.7]]</ref>
The two giants, the machine and bizarre sea creature, approached us, with Trickster lagging behind them.  I could see the machine-guy’s face, a heavy cheeked caucasian with acne-scarred cheeks and long hair pulled back into a greasy ponytail, the upper half of his face covered in a metal mask and goggles, and now I could place him. He was Trainwreck, a fairly thuggish villain that hadn’t made much of a name for himself. I couldn’t say whether that was a suit or actually his body.  For all I knew, he was some sort of coal-driven cyborg, or an unfortunate individual that’d been transformed by his powers much in the same way Newter and Gregor had.--> Would later receive a gunshot wound. He lacked proper limbs.

Trainwreck was very similar to the Merchants’ Mush, but without the ability to reintegrate into a human form, and the parts couldn’t necessarily move easily. That said, he was his own power supply. He had tinker knowledge that he used to give his body workable joints and more complicated engineering/weapons.

Weigh the power level of the inspiration type, narrow or broaden the specialty as needed. Every tinker varies in how they manage ideas & the scope/focus of what they build. Leet has super-broad specialties and sits at an extreme in this regard, but his inspiration method comes with heavy drawbacks (failure, misfiring), while Trainwreck is fairly narrow in his scope but has advantages garnered via. his inspiration method (super durable, cheap materials, fast crafting).

In terms of crafting a narrative and making a tinker interesting, you generally want to give them a challenge they need to surpass to make it work. Narrower specialties (ie. can only build incendiary weapons/gear) lower the chance of a DeM tinker. A tinker that has a 'mad inspiration' and breaks from reality more and more as he creates more exotic/esoteric stuff, hallucinating trace images/visions of the alien species that once built this sort of thing... that's a different kind of story. -->
so write he was able to quickly create durable armor from less then ideal materials, or something-->

History

Background

Trainwreck is a Case 53 - an amnesiac with physical alterations as well as powers, who woke up in a strange city with no memories. Inn this warped Tinker's case he would settle in Brockton Bay’s Trainyards, where he eked out a living as a homeless supervillain,<ref name="cast">Cast (in depth)</ref>trying to build a non-existent reputation.<ref name ="6.7"/>

Story Start

After the Undersiders led Armsmaster and Dauntless into a garage, Trickster teleported Armsmaster to Trainwreck. Trainwreck grabbed Armsmaster and slammed him against the hood of a car. Armsmaster managed to fight his way free where he fought against Trainwreck and Genesis until Trickster swapped out his Halberd for a car bumper. Trainwreck grabbed Armsmaster and started beating him against the car.<ref name ="6.7">Tangle 6.7</ref>

Trainwreck then dumped a bloody and beaten Armsmaster next to Dauntless. He then examined Armsmaster's Halberd before crushing it and dumping the remains over the fallen heroes.<ref name = "6.7"/>

Post-Leviathan

Taylor and Lisa were on a mission of mercy that took them to the Merchants festival of blood, where Trainwreck was part of the festivities.<ref name ="11.5">Infestation 11.5</ref> When Faultline's Crew staged an ambush to steal valuables from the merchants Trainwrec was held at bay by a new addition to the Crew.<ref name ="11.6">Infestation 11.6</ref> Taylor enlisted Tranwreck's help in cracking through barrier's created by Labyrinth of the attacking Crew. He was killed alongside the other Merchants by the Slaughterhouse Nine,<ref name="cast2">Cast Page</ref> dying at Shatterbird's hands.<ref name ="I12">Interlude 12</ref> This wound up complicating Coil's later plans.

Trivia

  • Had he lived, Trainwreck would likely have been put in the Undersiders once his role in the Merchants became unnecessary.<ref name="R3">What if</ref>
