Subjective

I know i have not done the requisite 3 read troughs of worm to fully grasp the story but from the subtext i see in wildbows original story and what the larger fan-community discussions isn't the classification system largely subjective in universe? Not just pointing towards Taylor's constantly evolving classification. But the various proposed uses for powers. e.g. If genesis created a giant spider with a functions digestive tract and silk ducts consumed food and then created huge bolts of silk wouldn't that render her a tinker as well?

Will be adding material about this soon.--FossilLord 02:22, June 7, 2016 (UTC)

Splitting

I think this article's size has become a bit unyieldy. I propose to split this article in 13 different parts (power classifications and one for each rating). Is it ok if I make an example page to showcase how it would look? RainDance299 (talk) 14:16, October 2, 2016 (UTC)

I do not agree with all of you edits on the page but if you want to sandbox a few examples of the sub pages your proposing I am not going to stop you. We can par down on the examples on the main page with smaller pages from each category, the main problem is redirection for links.--FossilLord (talk) 16:44, October 2, 2016 (UTC)
Sandbox:Stranger
Here's a page would look like, specifically the Stranger page. I didn't bother with references just yet, it's more of a quick creation. RainDance299 (talk) 21:54, October 2, 2016 (UTC)
Look at my blog on cut and paste writing. --FossilLord (talk) 23:12, October 2, 2016 (UTC)
Yesssss this pleases me, please post as you wish, of the same quality of course. We will need to par down the main page to major examples but these could easily be the 'in-depth' pages.--FossilLord (talk) 01:22, October 3, 2016 (UTC)

Retired classifcations

Possibly a section on the page for shifter and nuker? they seem too be a combination of changer/stranger and blaster/shaker can find the relevant sources even.--FossilLord (talk) 18:42, October 8, 2016 (UTC)

Shifter can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CykV5BgK2EFY4v_cuUXJFpU1Ye3mIRV-VaHEUZxZO4k/edit
Changer-stranger powers often involve changing one’s physical appearance, mimicking others, or using altered shape to slip in where an ordinary person couldn’t get.  The stranger and changer aspects thus blend together seamlessly (for much this reason, the changer category is sometimes referred to as shifter, an old designation for this specific eventuality).  Examples include stretching limbs, liquid form to seep through keyholes, or the ability to alter one’s face and mannerisms to match another individual.
Nuker can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aHyZ7c7TIgt903mPinOakrgli2WZu5IRtiGYPCnCqDE/edit#gid=390344990
Sarcophagus
Alexandria-ish package grants flight, as well as protection, in the form of external armor or a forcefield, the former providing imperfect but substantial protection that decays as it absorbs several incoming attacks, the latter providing perfect protection against a single hit.  Both forms of protection recover after a short pause.  Sarcophagus grants a blaster power with shaker-esque radius and damage potential or a shaker power with blaster-like offensive potential, the indistinction closely fitting the original PRT ‘Nuker’ designation).  Nature of armor, recovery period, style of flight, and the nature or flavor of the ‘nuke’ vary based on the individual.

Tables

So all the table are back. Short question: Are the tables something people something absolutely want on this page? RainDance299 (talk) 09:34, October 11, 2016 (UTC)

There. One simple template for all 13 pages. I will do the Striker page soon. RainDance299 (talk) 23:23, October 12, 2016 (UTC)

To-do list

Ok, so the Power classifications page, and the new sub-pages are looking good I think, but there's still work to be done, and I thought it might be a good idea to make a quick inventory. If you feel something else needs doing feel free to add it in, it wouldn't surprise if I forgot something. RainDance299 (talk) 13:33, October 24, 2016 (UTC)

  • Combinations with other ratings: I made a quick (uncited) example on the Mover page so you can sort of see were this is going: basically take the most common combinations (Blaster/Shaker, Changer/Stranger, Master/Stranger, etc) and describe how they generally manifest, while also mentioning how the rating appears as a secondary rating. It shouldn't be a complete description of all the different combinations (unless you want to create a whole new page for it all). I fear this section might be more challenging then it appears at first, mostly because lack of proper cites available to us.
  • Citations:
    • Some citations need to have proper quotes attached, mostly those leading to the Detail Generator spreadsheet. - Done!
    • Some quotes had their formatting killed by being copy-pasted from their original text, that's something that needs fixing - (it might be best if that's something that I do myself, since I actually have some memory of what the quote looked like before). - Done!
    • Format: I mostly used [Quote] - [Source (with outside link)], and tried to use that consistently. If someone has reason for another system, please post about it. At the very least, we should be sure that the same format is used across each page.
    • On the power classifications page, the part about sub-classifications has very weak cites. If anyone has a better source, that would be amazing.
    • There's other weak cites. If you find them and have something better, please add it in!
  • Known classifications: I'm sure I have missed a few. Please add them in if have a proper cite for them. Please don't add them if you don't have a proper cite for them.
    • (I know the following is tempting: "Legend is a Mover! That's just so obvious! Look here's a quote in which he flies!" but there's loads of people that think it's obvious that Victor is a Trump, and that Glory Girl's aura is a Master power, etc. Debating each and every cape in Worm... Nope. Cite or go home.)
    • If you find the template hard to edit properly, feel free to place your information here or on the Template's talk page: someone will fit in the information properly.
    • I think we should give priority here to A. Highly significant characters (Endbringers, Eidolon, etc.) and B. Characters with unique powers and/or unique ratings (Those would give the most new information).
    • Integrating the [Edit] button properly. (No idea how).
  • Speculated classifications: I added this section originally to preserve capes placed on the original lists but I lacked quotes for, but I think we should just cut it, since it's all speculations right now. - Done!
    • Lustrum and Khun Sa have Breaker forms, but that's not enough to earn a Breaker rating (see Grumman). Perhaps a quick note at the bottom of the page for them? - Fossillord provided a source to about Grumman that changed my mind about this. All three are now part of the table.
  • Table of (classification) Types: See the Tinker page: The list of hyperspecialist, focal tinker, etc. The same could be done for:
  • Shifter now has its own page. If you have any information or cites, please add it.
