An australian judge turned vigilante, Gavel hunted down the families of supervillains in his belief that nobody related to a villain is off-limits.

History

Not much is known of Gavels life. Before his trigger event he worked as a judge in Australia and with his newfound power he decided to become a vigilante. In a time before the three strike rule was in place, Gavel believed that radical measures had to be taken.

Armed with a gavel as his signature weapon and namesake, Gavel hunted the families of villains and killed them in an attempt to keep new villains from appearing. Gavel believed that anyone closely related to a villain, no matter who it is or how young they were, were off-limits.

Gavel completely lost public support when a villain threatened a city with a bomb and Gavel thought it was a bluff. The bomb exploded causing horrific destruction and an order for Gavels arrest was issued.

After Gavels arrest and sentence to life imprisonment in the Bridcage he became a cell block leader and remained there until the events of the extinction arc where he was one of the freed inmates in chapter 27.3. Gavel died fighting Scion in the venom arc in chapter 29.2 after managing to put up a straight fight for over a minute, something very few parahumans have managed.

Powers

Gavels powers classify as brute, breaker and trump and his primary power grants him damage reduction where no longer what it is that hits him it will only do a set amount of damage to him meaning that he can easily shrug of powerful energy blasts. Gavels power also grants him incredible strength as well as the ability to extend his main power into other things. Gavel is susceptible to fast, repeated attacks and lazers, but as the fight against Scion shows he can withstand such attacks for some time.

Gavel fights by easily getting close to his target while shrugging off attacks and extend his power into his gavel while he hits his target, he then chooses whether to extend his power into his target and let the impact kill them when they collide with something after the hit or simply pulverize them with the initial hit.
