Gestation 1.6 is the sixth and last non-interlude chapter of Gestation. Bug girl meets Armsmaster and they talk about the possible repercussions of a new hero taking down Lung, among other things. So Armsy takes the credit and Taylor heads home.
Plot
With Lung defeated and incapacitated, and knowing that a hero was arriving on scene, a physically and mentally exhausted Taylor remains at the site where Lung was fought. Her decision to stay is motivated by a desire to not have another individual (especially a hero) mistake her as a villain during her debut as a cape.
Arriving in a souped of motorcycle, the hero is revealed to be Armsmaster, a member of the Protectorate. The Protectorate is world's largest organization of superheroes, their domain spanning the United States and Canada (and will possibly have a presence in Mexico some time in the future), and with teams of heroes stationed in multiple cities that have recognized cape populations. Armsmaster in particular has a bright resume within the organization. Operating from a floating, forcefield-shrouded island headquarters (which is visible from the Boardwalk), Armsmaster leads the local Protectorate team (officially "The Protectorate East-North-East"), is among the United States's top superheroes, and is also a core member of the Protectorate's top heroes usually deployed to respond to major threats and catastrophes. He also has a significant media presence, appearing in magazines, TV interviews, and even having action figures of himself. Laying eyes on Armsmaster, Taylor notes the clear distinctions between him and a person just simply wearing a costume. His form being clad in dark blue armor with silver highlights, a helmet that only exposed the lower half of his face, and his trademark halberd.
Approaching Taylor, Armsmaster asks if she was going to attack him. She replies that she's actually a good guy, but is hurt when he remarks that she doesn't look like one. She defends that it was unintentional.
among one of the top heroes in the United States, team leader of the local Protectorate team, and a member of the core group of the Protectorate heroes that deploy to major incidents. Armsmaster verifies that she isn't dangerous, accepting her assurance that she's a hero with a speed that surprises her. He checks that she is okay, and she verifies she is. After exchanging some words on the Wards and Taylor verifying Lung's successful capture, Armsmaster sheds some light on the group that Taylor had just encountered, the Undersiders; primarily that the local heroes know very little about them. They're elusive villains with a very strong track record, they've received little media attention, and the local authorities have no ideas about the powers of two of the four individuals.
Armsmaster raises his next concern - he urges Taylor to stay quiet about her involvement in Lung's capture, suggesting that she'd face retaliation from Bakuda and Oni Lee, or to join the Wards, in which case her team would be able to protect her. Taylor recognizes Armsmaster's true motives: that he wishes to take credit himself, and she reluctantly agrees, knowing it puts her in his good graces.
She ventures home, assuring herself that her first night in costume didn't go too badly, and bemoaning the fact that she would be waking up to face the same sort of day in school that she ran into at the arc's beginning.

Trivia
- Author's note: At this point in the story, I hadn't settled on a name for Taylor's costumed identity (and, as it happens, I didn't come to a decision until the interlude of arc 3). This is a case of real life writing the plot, and her comments to Armsmaster echo my own thoughts on the subject.<ref>Edit by Wildbow</ref>
- Names that were considered included Bug and Myriad.
- It is revealed that Taylor had once been in the embarrassing possession of Armsmaster underpants. A distinguishing feature of the garment was having Armsmaster's emblem at the front (most certainly the crotch).
- The device Armsmaster talks about using to pin Lung to the sidewalk is the same device he uses in the Battle at the Gallery.<ref>Tangle 6.6</ref>
