Gestation 1.2 is the second chapter of Gestation. It involves Taylor traveling home, musing about her former friend Emma, Taylor’s superhero notes, her preparations for her future career, the introduction of her costume, and her decision to go out as a superhero.
Plot
Taylor heads home on the bus, thinking about her previous friendship with Emma, one of her bullies. Investigating her belongings, she discovers with dismay that the mess the bullies made extends to her notebook containing all her research and notes for her superhero career.
Upset about her notebook and nervous about skipping classes, Taylor is nonetheless relieved to be at home and out of the way of the bullies. She showers to clean herself off and contemplates what she should do. Deciding on a plan of action, she heads into the basement and resumes the ongoing work on her costume. She gives a detailed explanation of how the costume is made using real spider silk, with a strength on par with steel, and a lightweight, flexible fabric.
Taylor's costume is still unfinished, having planned to finish it over the school year and go out as a hero during summer, but with the destruction of her notebook, Taylor realizes she's procrastinating. Taylor resolves to start her superhero career by the following weekend.
